Sensei Rahube Nkwana, Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt)
Rahube was born in Oukasie, Brits, and later moved to Letlhabile during the apartheid forced removals in the 1980’s. He started playing soccer at the tender age of 7 like most boys in the township. In the 1994 the first ever Kyokushin dojo was established by Sempai’s Michael Makgwane and Phistus Mosiane and Rahube was amongst the students that joined that year. Rahube was able to learn techniques quickly and used to assist to hold the classes when the Sempai’s had work commitments allowing him to carry on with the dojo as early as late 1995. Rahube was first graded as a junior by the legendary Shihan Isaac Mashinini and took part in several tournaments including being selected to represent North West Province in the Young Lions tournament in consecutive years. In 2001, he emerged as the Annual Morula Sun North West Province U65kg champion. Prior to that Rahube has won and became runner-up in several tournaments. A new chapter began in 2009 when Rahube was acquainted with Renshi Shihan Collen Sedoaba who graded him his 1st Dan Black Belt. Joining Kyokushin-Kan in 2009 meant the beginning of a Black Belt journey that involve intensive learning from the Renshi Shihan and the astute Shihan James Sithole. Rahube established the Budo Karate Club in Doornpoort in 2024 to give back to his immediate community. Budo Karate Club was started with Rahube’s children and neighbours’ and is set to grow and spread the teachings of Mas Oyama in the Doornpoort area.
