History of Kyokushin Kan
Kyokushin Kan Karate was established in 2002. The pioneers of the organization are Shihan Hennie Bosman, Shihan Bas Van Stanis, Sensei Ben Sidwaba and Thabo Lebina. They met in Bloemfontein and formed an Interim Committee to administer and recruit for the newly formed organization.
In 2003 Shihan Bosman organized an International Camp in Stellenbosch at Jonkershoek. Kancho Royama accompanied by Japanese Instructors conducted a Seminar / Gashuku and a Grading. The delegation from Gauteng was Collen Sedoaba, Sidney Zilimbola , Ben Sidwaba , Thabo Lebina , Raymond Ngwenya, Thulani Sibisi , James Sithole , Sasa Lesiba , Joseph Tshabalala .
· Shihan Bosman was appointed Country Representative for Africa and Chairman of Kyokushin Kan Africa and he was graded the seventh Dan in Japan.
· Sensei Collen Sedoaba was graded to 5th Dan and was appointed as Branch chief.
· Sensei Sydney Zilimbola was Graded to 4th Dan and he later left and rejoined IKO 1
· Sensei Ben Sidwaba, Thabo Lebina and Raymond Ngwenya were graded 3rd Dan.
· Sempai James Sithole was graded Nidan in 2003 and in 2006 he graded his Sandan and his 4th Dan in 20 and finally his 5th dan in 2018.
· Sempai Sasa Lesiba graded her Shodan and her Nidan in 2005 and 2007 her Sandan and her 4th dan in 2023
· Sempai Buhle Dhlamini, Joseph Tshabalala and Thulani Sibisi graded to Nidan and later resigned and joined IKKF.
Since then, Kyokushinkan Gauteng has been steadily growing.
Kyokushin Kan presently has branches through out South Africa. Sensei Simphiwe Dhlulane based in Free State joined Kyokushin Kan in 2005 and he graded his Yondan in 2007. Sensei’s Wandile Ncapai, Ngaleka and Stuart were graded to Godan by Shihan Ichizawa, Shihan Collen Sedoaba and Shihan Hennie Bosman. Shihan Simphiwe Dlulane is now the Country Representative for South Africa.
